The staff Physical Therapist coordinates the physical therapy care for the patient population of primarily adult and geriatric persons who are acutely ill and have medically complex needs, which result in mobility and activities of daily living deficits.
The Physical Therapist is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and is expected to:
• Accurately assess the patient's needs
• Identify and implement appropriate physical therapy treatment
• Coordinate and/or provide patient and family teaching and work in collaborative association with the interdisciplinary team to provide timely, safe and cost effective treatment to achieve the optimal functional outcome.
Must have current Texas licensure, one year acute care hospital experience, and CPR certification.
Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant - $5,000 Sign-On Bonus!
The PTA assists licensed therapy personnel in designated duties to include:
• Delivery of care to long-term acute and rehabilitation patients who are adults 17-65 years of age and geriatric adults over 65 years of age
• Clerical duties, maintain upkeep and safe operations of the department, and prepare, maintain and clean treatment areas
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLS), personal care and comfort measures
• Assist with certain tests/procedures performed under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse
• Prepare patient for PT or OT sessions
• Transport patients, equipment and supplies
• Under onsite supervision of physical or occupational therapist, assist in preparation and established treatment protocols as assigned
• Perform restorative or maintenance programs as instructed by the licensed therapy personnel
• Maintain accurate records
• Participate in performance improvement activities that ensure important processes are measured, assessed, and improved systematically
• Participate in the management and support of a safe and effective environment.
Good communication skills, documentation, and technical skills found in the core competency list, as well as interpersonal skills needed to collaborate with licensed therapists and other team members are essential. An Associates Degree from an approved physical therapy assistant program as a Physical Therapy Assistant, a current state license as a Physical Therapy Assistant and BLS are required. Direct patient care experience preferred and the ability to speak and write Spanish are preferred. This position also requires knowledge in safe transfer techniques, and the ability to move, transfer and lift patients.
Speech Language Pathologist
The SLP will coordinate the Speech/Language Pathology care for the patient population of primarily adult and geriatric persons who are acutely ill and have medically complex needs which result in deficits of mobility and activities of daily living. Responsibilities include:
• Accurately assess patient needs
• Identify and initiate appropriate speech/language pathology interventions
• Provide patient and family education
• Work cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional speech/language pathology practice and interdisciplinary teamwork
• Participate in performance improvement and program development
• Participate in the hospital budgetary planning process and contribute to the goal to establish cost effective services and programs
• Perform according to Hospital policy
